I started using more chickpeas in our cooking after coming to Malaysia because  the quality of frozen chickpeas available here is really good. I always keep a packet of frozen chickpeas and mixed vegetable(chickpeas,carrot,corn) . If you don’t have any vegetable left, you can simply add this in rice and make a quick vegetable biryani or mix with cheese and try a grilled vegetable sandwich. This kind of things always help you if you prefer cooking at home.

I had this first time in one of the Indian restaurant in Capsquare mall in Kuala Lumpur. It was well prepared and smell of fenugreek was something caught my attention. I asked restaurant manager that where they get fenugreek in Malaysia. He said they use Dried Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi). No wonder it smells so good. You can buy this from Cold storage,Carrefour or any Indian grocery store in Brickfields@Kuala Lumpur.

Ingredients

  • 100 gm fenugreek leaves or 1 cup dried kasuri methi
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 cup chickpeas
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts soaked in water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 black pepper
  • 1-2 cloves
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • All ingredients

  • chop fenugreek ( no need if dried kasuri methi  )

  • Boil fenugreek and matar for 5 minutes with 1 cup water then

  • pour water out of it

  • grind cashew nuts and make a find paste

  • heat oil in a pan. Add butter

  • Add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick,cloves and black pepper

  • add fenugreek and chickpeas and mix it well

  • Add cashew nuts paste and mix it well

  • Simmer it on law flame for 5-7 minutes ( add water if needed)
