How to make Pita bread at home?
I always used to think that making pita bread at home is very difficult, especially creating those pocket. But when I created perfect pita bread on my very first attempt. I never knew that it is so easy. It is really worth making Pita bread at home because store-bought is usually few days old.
Homemade Pita bread recipes Tips & Tricks
- Don’t roll the dough too thin. I normally roll it up to 1/4″.
- Don’t brown the bread. Or it will dry soon.
- Use cotton or cheesecloth to wrap the pita bread once it is out of the oven.
Try this pita bread recipe once, and I promise you won’t feel like buying pita bread from stores again. As I mentioned, I use my old small oven which bakes one pita bread at a time, but that’s sufficient for 2-3 people. It usually takes 40-50 minutes to make 7-8 bread. If you have a bigger oven then you can bake 4-6 bread in one go.

- Fill the pita pocket with your favourite veggies and sauce
- Fill the pita bread with a salad of your choice.

Homemade pita bread recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cup of all purpose flour
- 1. 5 cup of water do not pour all in one go
- 2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 Tbs olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt as per taste
- 1.5 Tbs packet yeast
Instructions
- Take 1 cup of warm water(part of 1.5 cup) , add yeast and sugar and keep it aside for 5 minutes until mixture get bubbly.
- After 5 mins, mix flour , yeast water,olive oil and salt. knead it for 10-15 minutes,pinch the dough in between to check if dough is ready.
- now cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave until dough has doubled in size. Normally it takes an hour.
- punch the dough and divide in 8-9 parts. Take a handfuls of dough and Roll it into think circle, about 1/7 inch thick.
- Heat the Oven around 250 C. Place it on the baking sheet and cook until bread begins to puff up. Flip and and cook for 2 more minutes. Bake rest of the breads using the same process.
